Orbis asked students: Should those in Congress who oppose the war in Iraq cut funding in order to encourage a faster withdrawal?

Katie Rogers
Senior, A & S

"I think all efforts should be made to stop the war, and if that means cutting funding, then yes, I'd agree. The funding isn't really accomplishing much, so I'd say use the money for something more constructive."

Danny De Valdenebro
Senior, A & S

"No, I don't. I don't believe it was necessarily correct to go into Iraq, but withdrawing would perpetuate the stigma that plagues us because of our entrance in the first place, because what's in question is the sincerity of our efforts."

Brigid Ronan
Sophomore, A & S

"I'm opposed to the war, but I don't think they should cut funding because then soldiers might not have the proper equipment."

Fred Ochieng
First-year medical student

"I'm kind of torn, but I think because of the fact that there's a big deficit, and there's been overspending, I don't think that it's wise to keep pumping in more money."

Victoria Lopez
Freshman, A & S

"If you cut funding, then won't it take away money that the troops need for weapons?"
