$100K owed in child support...

A Maury County man recently reached the top of the nation’s list of delinquents by falling behind in his child support payments in excess of $100,000. He has been running from the state for the past ten years, and now owes $121,126 in missed payments. The case is so old that now both of his children are of legal age (18 and 19 years old), but legally the unidentified man is still responsible for following through on the court-mandated payments. Remaining anonymous due to confidentiality laws, the man joins thousands of other deadbeat dads across the state who consistently fail to pay child support. In Davidson County alone, over $268,000,000 is owed in delinquent child payments. The state is now threatening the $100K dad with revocation of his driver’s license if payments are still not received by the end of the year.

Kerry falls behind in the state...

Despite his energetic and optimistic campaign efforts across Tennessee, early voting results put Kerry behind Bush, with the incumbent taking a whopping 60 percent of the vote versus the challenger’s 38 percent. Although it is clear that nothing short of a miracle could swing the state in Kerry’s favor, local Democratic enthusiasts insist that they’re proud of the way that the campaign bolstered support in the state. Spokesperson Bob Bivins stated, “We knew it was going to be an uphill battle, and I think a lot of Tennesseans were able to finally have an outlet to voice dissatisfaction with the Bush administration. Even though we’re the underdogs, we’re proud to say that our vote went to John Kerry and John Edwards.” Bivins also pointed out that Tennessee’s own Democrat Sen. Al Gore also lost the state in 2000, with final poll results Bush a lead of 51.2 percent over Gore’s 47.3 percent.
