In the House of Representatives...
The House reconvenes on Tuesday, November 16 to resume daily business. As of Saturday, Oct. 9, the last major actions in the House included passing H.Res.827, a resolution sponsored by John Linder (R-GA) “to reform the intelligence community and the intelligence and intelligence-related activities of the United States Government, and for other purposes,” and passing H.R.4567, a bill sponsored by Harold Roger (R-KY) “Making appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2005, and for other purposes.” Past committee meetings have included the Foreign Relations Committee which met on Wednesday, Oct. 6, to conduct a hearing on the Annual Report on International Religious Freedom 2004 and Designations of Countries of Particular Concern.
In the Senate...
The Senate reconvenes on Tuesday, November 16 to resume consideration on the nomination of Francis J. Harvey to be Secretary of the Army. The last major actions included referring to Senate Committee S.2959, a bill sponsored by Mark Dayton (D-MN) “to amend the Public Health Service Act to ensure an adequate supply and distribution of influenza vaccine” and the referring to Senate Committee of S.2945, and a bill sponsored by Jon Corzine (D-NJ) “to permanently eliminate a procedure under which the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives can waive prohibitions on the possession of firearms by convicted felons, drug offenders, and other disqualified individuals.” Upcoming committee meetings include the Indian Affairs Committee, Wednesday, Nov. 17, to hold hearings to “resume oversight hearings to examine lobbying practices involving Indian tribes.”
