TennCare patients plea to Gov. Bredesen...

TennCare patients and advocates made a plea to Gov. Phil Bredesen earlier this month to help define areas over the overhauled program, and called the potential damage under his program “frightening”.  Their main concern comes from several areas of the TennCare plan that use ambiguous words and phrases such as “medical necessity” and “alternative possibilities”, which may increase the likelihood of a patient being denied under the state plan and required to file medical insurance under a more expensive private plan.  Bredesen has not yet allowed review of the plan, although numerous protestors and the threat of law suits have forced the governor to promise that “The new TennCare plan will not be fully authorized and put into action until I’m sure than all Tennesseans will receive fair and quality treatment.”
