Although it is true that the Bush administration finished up its eight years with a slew of environmentally damaging regulations, not all of the ones listed in this story came to pass. The administration withdrew its push to alter the Clean Air Act to make it possible for coal fired power plants to be built closer to National Parks. Also, the administration dropped its effort to alter the fish rules. However, this is little comfort, knowing that the other environmentally damaging regulations were put in place.

I don't get it. So what is there to stop Obama from nullifying each and every one of these?

On Tuesday, January 20, Reuters is reporting that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has sent a memorandum to all federal agencies and departments suspending all "midnight regulations" until they can be reviewed by the Obama administration.

The cynic in me says that a you-scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours attitude will lead to Bush's benefactors returning the favour... I wouldn't be surprised if he was given a well-paying job on the board of directors of some company.
